Using the example of a bear talking to a rainbow, this story for young children up to age 4, walks through the feelings of being afraid or scared of what is to come.

In this situation bear is frightened because winter is coming and what will happen as the sun disappears behind the clouds. Bear is worried that he will be cold and lonely.

Using the power of thought, rainbow, bear's friend asks him to close his eyes and imagine he is filled with the warmth of the yellow from the sun.

But bear is also worried because he knows that the leaves will fall from the trees and he is frightened of being left alone. When winter came as the nights grew longer, bear find that he is no longer scared.

Using the same method, rainbow says he will fill bear to the brim and he won't be alone. Author and child psychologist, Deirdre Brander uses evidence based techniques in Bear’s Toolkit to help young readers with finding ways to calm their worries and to manage fear and overthinking in a charming and softly told story.
