When Amandine first sees Perley prick his finger she's surprised but he soon explains that he needs to do this to test his blood sugar levels. Ordinarily, that would be ok, but Amandine is part of.a respected vampire family. That makes quite a friendship combination.

t is curious reading and looking at the illustrations as Perley discovers that Amandine can taste blood sugar levels.

Later in the year, the two realise their blood sipping romance might not be as healthy as they first thought it might be. Clearly not for the squeamish readers amongst us as I found it difficult coping with reading some of this story.

School work and life is about to become very busy and Perley and Amandine realise that they should take a break. They need to get their lives back to normal, but they wonder after all they have been though together what in fact normal is now and neither want to lose each other.

Mixing with others in their class and on excursions and reflecting on some interesting coping situations such as when visiting a farm and touching sheep, they realise that one friend is allergic to the natural lanolin that sheep produce.

Written in teen-speak, Americanisms, wth many 'gonnas, gottas and yeahs'  popping up frequently this may appeal to the 12 to 18 year age group.
