If ever there was an easy-to-read book that could help mid to late teens, young adults and adults wanting a happier more successful life, Strive, by International tennis champion Venus Williams has got it nailed.
Her simple promise to herself to make everything in life easy, enjoyable and most of all, exciting radiates off these pages.
Broken down into steps with understandable explanations, as I read each page, I found myself nodding in agreement with just about everything Venus Williams shares. One of the things that resonates and you have probably heard or read before is that it is important to have the right people in your circle. Meaning to ensure you are surrounded by positive influences that can help in our daily lives. Like me, you may have noticed that the negative Nellies, don't do us any favours to succeed in our endeavours.
Through adversity and a diagnosis with Sjogren's syndrome Williams did not let this hold her back. These are the steps she used to grow stronger.
Throughout the eight steps, topics such as observing, appreciation, enriching, soothing are covered. Williams is quick to point out, she isn't perfect and didn't have this all in place from the beginning, rather that it is an ongoing development, something we can all relate to. In fact, the way in which this helpful book is written is totally relatable to the everyday person.
Given that Venus Willams has earned four Olympic gold medals, 21 Grand Slam titles, and built two companies, this is more than a self-help book. These are the tools she has developed and used to reach these achievements. As I read through the pages, it is pleasing that it feels more like sitting down and having a chat as she shares her secrets than reading the usual how-to inspiring book.
This an enjoyable, book to read, filled with helpful, useful information and tips towards having a successful or at least a happier life. Usually I don't make recommendations, but I do encourage you. to get this book for yourself, your teen or someone you know who could do with real practical knowledge on how to move forward in life
