Lot 33 is a hive of gardening activity in Rosie's neighbourhood and where you will find her helping her gardening friends. It seems like a lovely place where the local community get together and tend to their own gardens.
One day much to Rosie's and her gardening friends great disappointment they find there is a great big fence around their garden with signs, warning caution, do not enter. As expected they are all disappointed and don't quite know what to do.
Rosie tries to ignore the noise as Lot 33 has become a construction site, but as the building becomes taller it is impossible to forget it.
She wants to restore the garden. The story shows resourcefulness, thinking - particularly lateral thinking and ingenuity as Rosie has come up with a plan to make this happen. The story with the lovely illustrations in gentle pastel colours for ages 4 - 8 year olds demonstrates to readers how to solve a problem and what to do to bring plans to reality.

The author
Olivia Coates is an early childhood professional who is passionate about the role of the natural environment in education and care for young children. Since the beginning of her teaching career in 2005, Olivia has secured numerous garden grants for local kindergartens and schools, and worked closely with organisations who provide supported employment for people with a disability. The projects targeted better access, inclusion and connection. She adores visiting these gardens now and seeing children immersed in play amongst nature, growing and harvesting vegetables, feeding chickens and collecting eggs, learning the names and traditional uses of plants. This is Oliva Coates' second book.
The illustrator
Samantha McLelland is a freelance illustrator and former school art teacher. When she is not drawing, Samantha enjoys pottery, spin class, cooking, reading, and exploring the beautiful New England outdoors.
