Hardcover picture book

When young Ruby received a shiny parcel and present from her dad, she's delighted. She shakes it about and wonders what's in it before tears off the paper.

Once opened Ruby is so excited to see a shiny pair of roller skates and they are red, which is her favourite colour! But can she roller skate?

Ruby's dad offers to show her how to roller skate, but Ruby thinks it's so easy, she won't need help. She gives it a go, but uh-oh, she wibbles and wobbles in the house and bashes her elbow. Then she tries out the roller skates outside, but again, she jiggles about, losing her balance and hurts her knee.

After this experience she puts her new roller skates in the cupboard, she's not sleeping with them like she did on the first night. When Ruby asks her dad for help and to teach her how to skate he is delighted and takes her to a skate rink where are the others skating make it  look so easy peasy.

After help from dad she finds she can skate!

It is a lovely picture book with a gentle way of explaining to younger children that it can be a good idea to get help to learn and master new things.
