Do you really favour one child? The answer to that question can be Yes and No.
Yes, because just like personality clashes, you can have natural accords. No, because a natural accord is not favouritism.
Many parents and teachers worry that they favour one of their children and most feel guilty about it. But having favourites is not only natural, it is unavoidable. By getting to know the natural personality of each of your children or students, you can come to understand what motivates their words and actions and so help ease natural clashes and relieve the guilt.

Hidden Dangers - A guide to making your home a safer, happier and healthier environment
|

|
by Marla Swift Published by JoJo Publishing ISBN 9780980283693 Paperback
There are many people who would dearly like to play a musical instrument, but every time they play, it just does not sound like it should, and they give up.
One of the reasons, discovered by Marla Swift, a music teacher at the Defence Force School of Music, is that people can't get the timing of the notes - or the "rhythm" - right. Rhythm is a huge part of music and although you might get the other part, melody, correct, without the rhythm, the melody doesn't sound quite right.
Marla's new book "Finding the Rhythm in Music" in which she outlines "The Swift Way to Count", one of the simplest, most precise methods of learning how to understand and perform musical rhythms that you will ever find.

Lost in Flanders - - NFSA documentary

An interesting title indeed. This DVD is more suited to secondary school students.
A fascinating movie showing the lives of the women who went from rags to respectability. More than 200 other women were rounded up from England's most notororious prisons and herded aborad the first female transport ship to be sent to Australia. Amongst these women were an 11 year old street urchin, Mary Wade, Ann Marsh who was convicted for stealing a bushel of wheat and the doyenne of the London crime scene, Elizabeth Barnsley. The Lords of the British Empire thought that these women would serve as good breeding stock as a way to make sure it was a way of keeping male convicts from "gross irregularities". The voyage took almost a year and along the way the ship transformed into a floating brothel. The women did whatever it took to survive the voyage. Interesting and well-worth watching.

History teacher Michael Malkentin joins historian Mat McLachlan in an exploration of Australian soldiers' wartime experience in Belgium where 20,000 Australians went missing in unmarked graves.
Michael and Mat were unable to find the missing bodies, but in quirk of fate local workers who wre laying a gas pipeline at the time of the filming uncovered the bodies of five Australian soldiers.
With the help of forensic science and military history, the two storytellers were able to trace and meet the soldiers descendants and learn more about the people and the cost of Australia's involvement in the war.
