We recently heard about SuperClubsPLUS a safe, social learning network fornchildren 6–13 years, a place where they meet friends, have fun, develop ICT skills and work with othern children across the world on educational projects.

Online safety for 6 - 13 year olds

SuperClubsPLUS is used by 250,000 children worldwide and is a rich and authentic space for children to learn the critical literacy, social and information skills necessary to thrive in the online world.

Children participate in forums, chat with friends, discuss their favourite topics, help solve a weekly trivia quiz and maybe post a 'HomeworkHelp' answer whilst all the time working with children around the world to earn their ICT Stars, Reading Badge andInternational award.

Children have the opportunity to participate in Hot Seats, where a celebrity or author will answer the children’s questions in a forum-based interview. Recent Hot Seats have included children’s authors such as Jeff Kinney, Andy Griffiths and Kate Forsyth, as well as a popular scientist, a senior Qantas pilot and marine conservationists.

Parents can be reassured their children are in safe hands in SuperClubsPLUS, with trained Mediators always available, helping their children as they develop safe online behaviours.

Children like to spend as much time as they can on SuperClubsPLUS with 70% of our young members accessing SuperClubsPLUS from home.

The cybersafety lessons learned in SuperClubsPLUS stay with students no matter what other unsafe sitesthey might use. They have comprehensive 'time out' and 'warning' systems which are focused on helping students to positively change their online behaviours.

  • 98% of children in SuperClubsPLUS have learned what to do in the event that they feel unsafe online.

  • 95% of students aged 8-10 years practice safe online behaviours learned in SuperClubsPLUS and transfer these behaviours to other sites.

  • When a child gains all their Stars they will have met outcomes for up to 90% of their ICT curriculum.
