Students at the school are referred by a senior teacher or assistant Headteacher in their "home school".

An outstanding children's worker and Fernhurst School governor representing the community - Pauline Geraghty has been nominated for an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire)

Fernhurst is an alternative school for high school students who may be in danger of not fulfilling their potential. Offering a vast array of hands-on courses that lead to qualifications which supplement core GCSEs.

Students go to Fernhurst School two days a week and spend the other three days in their “home school” doing core subjects.

Fernhurst is also the school of the 100 per cent result.

They asked their year 11 leavers to complete a leaving survey and were pleased to find that 100% would recommend the school to other students, as a great place in which to learn, progress and succeed.

75% would like a sixth form, and when asked if they'd like to have had the opportunity to attend the school a year earlier in Year 9, the students responsed with a resounding 100% yes.

All leaving students are going on to further education with 50% of students starting at level 2 of their chosen fields.

Congratulations to headteacher, George Sinclair, and all the staff who make this school such a success and positively influence the lives of young people who may not otherwise have the chance to progress so well. For more information about Fernhurst School visit their website.
